This year marks twenty years of 2 Note.
Over those two decades, much has changed. We've had five different storefronts across two states, exchanging the rocky coast of Maine for the rolling hills of the Hudson River Valley. Most recently, we've stepped away from a physical storefront and embraced a fully online presence.
From the outside, it might look like a story of growth. In many ways, it is.
But what feels more remarkable to us is what has remained unchanged.
Since 2006, our aim has been simple: to create thoughtful botanical products that bring beauty, function, and atmosphere to daily life—crafted with care and produced in a way that respects both people and the natural world.
The methods have evolved. The product line has expanded. The business has adapted to changing seasons, shifting markets, and realities we never could have anticipated. We even made it through a global pandemic.
Yet the essential rhythm of the work remains much the same.
Every bottle is still filled by hand. Every formula is still blended by hand. Every order is still packed by hand.
More importantly, it is still made by our hands.

In a culture that often measures success by scale, we've found ourselves drawn to a different definition. We have grown, but not beyond the work itself. The making remains central to who we are. It keeps us connected to the materials, the process, and the people who bring these products into their homes and daily lives.
There is satisfaction in knowing every ingredient that enters the workshop, every fragrance that takes shape at the blending bench, every label applied to a bottle, every package that leaves our door. It is a slower way of working. It is also a deliberate one.
For us, that connection is not incidental to the work—it is the work.

Twenty years in, 2 Note remains an independent practice of making, guided by curiosity, craftsmanship, and the belief that small-scale production carries a value all its own. Not because it is nostalgic, but because it allows for care, attention, and accountability at every step.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this work along the way. Whether you've been with us since the early days or discovered us more recently, you've helped make it possible for us to continue this work for the past twenty years.
As we enter our third decade, we carry forward the commitment that started it all: to make things well. Thoughtfully. Responsibly. By hand.
